American Bashkir Curly Horses For Sale
Lyle is now green broke, Phil Gunning of Libby, Mt. has started him under saddle. Phil started by doing solid ground and round pen work, and is now riding him on trail and through obstacles. Phil works carefully and teaches his horses to yield to the bit and to yield to pressure. Lyle will have at least 30 days under Phil.
Lyle is gaited, doing a Damele Curly style running walk. His canter is extremely smooth. He is a sweet natured and co-operative horse who is not spooky. He is sound, up to date on worming, his teeth have been floated and wolf teeth removed.
Lyle has been started on trail, but he could also go to the show ring. His sire is my stud Mississippi Mud Slinger, ABC-3022. His dam is my riding mare Lila, ABC-2953. He is covered by my "buyers' protection guarantee."
Price is $2,700.00 at this time.
Her dam is Sarina, ABCR-S516 and her sire is Mississippi Mud Slinger, ABCR-3022. Because Kate’s dam, Sarina, is now safely in foal again to Mud Slinger, we are able to sell Kate. She is a smoky black with good curls who is likely to gray. Her gaits are smooth. Her muscle structure makes for efficient movement. She also has a willingness to compete and to work hard. For these reasons, I believe that she could make a good endurance horse. Here are 4 pictures that show some of the training that I am doing with her.
| I begin by asking her to yield. This is something that I always do before asking a horse to do any work for me. | I have started teaching Kate to long pole. You can see that I am not holding the lead rope. If she wished to she could run away. But she never even wanted to leave me or to run away. |
| Kate has submitted to the long pole. She keeps walking quietly as I have told her to do. But she has dropped her head showing acceptance, understanding and submission. | I have started Kate lounging. Because of the long pole work that we did before she understands what I am asking for when I tell her to lounge. I do not need a whip or stick to move her from behind because she understands to move from my arm movement. This is, I think, because she has been long poled before lounging. |
We are asking $1500 for Kate.
Thank you for you interest in Kate Kootenai. She is ABCR eligible and will be registered with ICHO.
If you are looking for a trail horse or a family horse, Chief is that horse. He has been easy to train because he wants to understand what his handler wants of him, this means that he is exceptionally willing to learn. Chief is obedient in a very kind way. He is not flashy. Rather, Chief has his beauty where it counts, in his willingness to learn and to obey. His conformation is good. But more importantly, his attitude is good. Of course, he is covered by my Buyers' Protection Guarantee.
His dam is Autumn Rose, abc hb 134, a daughter of Skookum Buck. His sire is Mississippi Mud Slinger, abc 3022, my stallion. Chief is curly, with good hair coat and skin quality. His gaits are smooth. He is a red dun in color.
His conformation is good, with a short back and very good legs. His gaits are very smooth. He should mature at about 14.1 or 14.2 hands.
The snow is finally melting. That means that I can post some new pictures of Chief. These were taken on Jan. 28 and show him and I working on leading through small and tight passage ways. The pictures say it all; he is brave, trustworthy and willing!
Chief is both ABC and/or ICHO registrable. His price is negotiable to the right home.
